On the road for a few days….

November 26, 2007

Off to Seattle for a few days, leaving my girls at home again…

  DSCN2130 DSCN2175

22 hours traveling will see me land in Seattle, where it’s currently around 6c, it’s was 31c when I left Sydney!

Only in Seattle until Thursday meaning I get back to Sydney on Saturday morning, then only 19 or so sleeps until we leave for the UK for a three week family holiday… can’t wait!

First thing I did when I got to San Francisco was speak to Diana, and of course Scarlett now that she has her new found conversational skills! Our quick chat included the usual update on Ivy’s sleep habits, I.e. “Ivy Sleeping. Sleeping, Ivy Sleeping”, to which I enquire, hi baby, how are you? are you having breakfast? “Yes, Ivy Sleeping”…. That girl is Ivy obsessed, long may it continue! (Evidence of Ivy’s penchant for sleep is above)…

Not only do I get to speak to Scarlett now when I’m away, but I love getting mail from Charlie, seems the house is cold right now, something to do with it being Winter in Nottingham and there being insufficient external walls to block out the winter chill…? Fingers crossed B&J’s renovations are finished soon, do it for the kids guys, Charlie tells me there’s a real hypothermia risk looming!

Site of my meetings in Seattle is below.

Big Day on Sunday

November 19, 2007

After more than 5 weeks, Diana had a swim!

Now that the Pool tempreature has risen to a more reasonable 25.9c from a miserable 19.8c Diana took her first swim… (Just having given birth to Ivy had something to do with it too I suspect!)Crocodile crocodile.

Anyway, Scarlett was chuffed.

Keeping in touch with home…

November 14, 2007

Being away this week is completely different from previous trips for two reasons; Diana is at home with two instead of one, makes a massive difference I’d imagine although she’s managed not to lay the guilt too heavily on me! And, well, speaking to Scarlett on the phone… it’s GREAT…. So amazing being able to keep in touch with my little girl from anywhere, even if most of what she says is unintelligible… here’s a transcript of our earlier conversation with translations where I think necessary:

  • b: Hey sweetheart
  • s: Hi
  • b: Is that Scarlett?
  • s: yesss, Scarlett
  • b: How are you?
  • s: Good daddy
  • b: what have you…
  • s: (interupts) Ivy sleeping
  • b: is she?
  • s: yes, sleeping, Ivy, toilet
  • b: toilet?
  • s: toilet, poo (Diana is in the background, tells me Scarlett did her first poo in the toilet!)
  • b: that’s great, great
  • s: poo, toilet, poo

etc etc…. then she says “bye daddy, plane, korea, bye”… and gives me a kiss… just amazing this parenting lark.

Traveling for a couple of days…..

November 12, 2007

Sad to be back on the road for a few days, will miss the girls loads…

PIC-0002I will be in Hong Kong and Seoul, before getting back home on Thursday evening after a day of meetings in Melbourne - fingers crossed I get home before Scarlett goes to bed.

It was a shame to cut the weekend short, the sun was well and truly out after a week or more of rain.

Odd that I always seem to always fly over our house, salt in my wounds… or maybe we just live on the flight-path? :)

Back in the office

November 5, 2007

I have enjoyed being able to spend almost three weeks at home after the birth of Ivy Hazel. A combination of Paternity Leave, vacation time and working from home meant that I only had to make a few trips to the office and the rest of the time I’ve been with Diana, Ivy and Scarlett 24/7. Sad to say that I am back in my office now and, worse still, I’ll be back on the road soon. Great to work for a progressive company, though, that get’s the importance of family, and embraces the technologies necessary to ensure productivity outside of the office! Thanks Bill.

Some pictures from the weekend.
